CHRISTMAS MARKET IN CASTEL RIGONE
Castel Rigone is a small village on the top of the hills overlooking Trasimeno Lake.
During Christmas period, from the end of November, the oldest part of the village becomes a typical market, organized in the cellars overlooking the small piazzas and the characteristic alleys.
When you enter the village you feel immediately comfortable in a welcome atmosphere, with Christmas music and coloured lights.
The exibitors, most of them live in the village, show several gifts and craftsman products, all handmade: Christmas decorations, nativities, costume jewellery, woodden objects, hats and wool scarfs, laces from Isola Maggiore, typical food and biological products like jams, sauces, honey, legumes, small houses done with biscuit pasta and tasty "walking" biscuits.
During the event there are some activities for children: a space for make-up and creative plays, the sleigh of Santa Claus where to do a photo, and the pony horses for a tour in the piazza.
On sunset, when the temperature goes down, what is the best to stop at the small house "Lieto Ristoro" to taste a vin brulè, a fragrant ring-shaped cake or a sandwich with sausage just cooked on the fire?
It is because Castel Rigone is a "bonbonniere" or because the view overlooking Trasimeno Lake from here is always an emotion, but visit this village and its Christmas Market gives your day really special.
